Android Taking Market Share at RIM's Expense

Geek.com: ComScore mobile subscriber market share report shows that Android now accounts for one in three smartphone users.

"It also seems that Research In Motion’s (RIM) was hurt the most by Android’s continuing rise."

"In November of last year RIM held the top spot when it came to smartphone platforms with a market share of 33.5%. At that time Google was just holding its #2 ranking against Apple. February of this year was a completely different story, though. Android had climbed to the top and now sits securely at the #1 position with 33% market share while RIM dropped an incredible 4.6% during the same period. Microsoft and Palm dropped 1.3% and 1.1% respectively. Apple in turn didn’t lose any market share, instead making a modest gain of 0.2%. Since Verizon Wireless just launched their version of the iPhone in February, Apple’s market share could continue to rise."
