Tip: Windows Mobile — Try a Smaller PDF Reader

Opening a PDF file on your mobile device can be a real time-saver when it means you review the document while riding the subway to your meeting or flying to a conference. But, Adobe Reader is often more robust than what you need on-the-go and it can slow down a system. Try Foxit Reader for Windows Mobile instead.

Go here: There separate versions for Pocket PC and Smartphone, both are $19.99 for one license but offer free evaluations to give you an introduction.

To install, after purchasing and downloading to your desktop, connect your handheld via USB to your computer. Then, depending on whether you downloaded the zip, exe or CAB file, you will follow instructions for copying files to your mobile or running an install wizard. Once the program is installed, you should see a Foxit Reader icon in your programs list.

Use Foxit Reader to open PDF documents and, once you're comfortable with it, you can free up the disk space of Adobe Reader. Foxit requires about 4MB of space while Adobe can take up two to three times that.
