Good Technology, Sprint Offering Android Mobile Device Management
Sprint and mobile management software firm Good Technology are partnering up to offer mobile security services for businesses using Android mobile devices. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G are offered on the Sprint (NYSE: S) network, and Good Technology wants to offer mobile IT at both small businesses and bigger enterprises mobile security and device management tools. The "Good for Enterprise -- Android" solution has two key features: Good Mobile Control covering mobile security and Good Mobile Messaging, for contact organization.
Good Mobile Control provides mobile security and device management with over-the-air and on-device encryption of enterprise data, remote application password policies, and remote wipe of enterprise data. Good Mobile Messaging delivers enterprise-class mobile email and personal information management, including Calendar and Contacts.
Mobile device management software taking off as hot trendThe news of the Sprint-Good Technology joint venture comes at a time when mobile management vendors such as Zenprise, MobileIron and BoxTone are rolling out new support services for the major mobile operating systems at a rapid clip.
Sprint competitors AT&T and Verizon also offer their own respective mobile management services. Meanwhile, Dell, a new entrant to the smartphone and tablet space, just yesterday introduced a portfolio of six mobile device management services. Good for Enterprise is available through Sprint Business, which is composed of sales, support, marketing and operations personnel solely dedicated to enterprise, small and medium-sized business and public sector customers. "Android's popularity is growing at an incredible rate, and it's clear that end users love these devices, the diversity of form factors, and price points that the platform offers.
